A few of these may only apply to me for all that I know, while others are observations. But from I gather, ENTPs:

- May fear the thought of being easily predictable, stereotyped or being put in a box. This could result in some kind of stigma imposed on the following of tradition and culture...which could also result in philosophical, idealistic, political or religious promiscuity (while there may be an advantage to the end result, this is based on fear).

- May tend to be complete goof balls or dorks who don't realize they are, because they may compensate well in other areas of social skills and fitting in OR are too busy to give a shit lol

- May tend to be excessively analytical when it is impractical, inappropriate or just to the point of disadvantage in particular situations.

- May tend to initiate debate when it is impractical, inappropriate or just to the point of disadvantage in particular situations.

- May tend to be a hypocrite, because of contradicting opinions, perspectives, or ideals that were gained from a wide variety of past learning experiences that don't exactly jive with each other (actually, this may just be me lol).

- May tend to lack understanding the benefit or see the beauty in tradition

- May have a tendency to be a showoff

- May tend to be non-conformist (which can be a strength or weakness depending on the situation)

- May tend to feel isolated as a result of being non-conformist and not seeing the beauty in tradition

- May tend to have existentialist depression (especially younger ENTPs)

- May have a tendency to challenge protocol and authority.

- May tend to have expectations for him or herself, other people or life in general that are too high or unrealistic (without realizing until later in life)

- May tend to find it hard to resist offering advice when it was not asked for (which can be annoying to those who are fine with the way things are)

- May tend to prefer spontaneity over tedious organization and detailed planning (strength and weakness).

- May tend to be chronic daydreamers and easily distracted

- May become easily obsessed (especially ENTP/7)

- May have trouble agreeing with one's self or deciding confidently on what he or she wants (especially ENTP/7)

- May have a tendency to resist suggestions before they are proven solutions (because we like to think for ourselves, we want to know why before taking advice...which in most cases is a strength, but there may be moments when there's a benefit to just going with the flow and learning why the advice is beneficial in the process of doing what is advised).

- May have a tendency to be arrogant about one's intellect (if insecure and immature)

- May feel easily overwhelmed by his or her own thoughts and obsessions...or by taking up too many projects.

- May tend to be perfectionists when something is personal (a project of obsession isn't finished until that ONE TINY fix is made). But in contrast when we are not obsessed with something we may have a tendency to not care enough about the details.

- May have a tendency to take up too many projects at once and not following through

- May not take his or her brilliant ideas seriously enough by just experimenting for the sake of experimenting and just "fucking around

- May have a tendency to be obsessed with the art of pursuing and enjoying sexual interests lol

Did someone write these lists about *me*? ;)
I want to understand everything, try everything once, travel everywhere including through space and time, and solve all of the world's problems. I want it all! (In the meantime, settling for a good job and good friends....)

Nice list. Even though I'm more on the J side I'm still guilty of many of those things.

I'd like to add another issue for NTs in general:

Too much focus on the future - predicting the future, analysing the future, creating the future, depending what particular brand of NT you are. This causes problems in activities that require you to be in the present moment or ones that require you to recall past events accurately and sequentially.

Also a lack of awareness and understanding of your own and other peoples' emotions. This is why NTs are known to suck at people skills and things related to it - most of it is based on emotions.

Haha yah, same here... very guilty of everything Jung One stated, too.

ENTPs may lack an overall understanding of other people's opinions when it's drastically different from their own. The differences cause the ENTP to knowingly/unknowingly seek to "sway" the other person's thinking (not necessarily to their own way of thinking, but to something modified, just for the sake of "change").

I guess thats why NTs are prone to a anxiety and worry.

I agree with what Jung One said about obsession.

Not sure what my enneagram is now, but I relate to seven obsession.

I used to have a dream or goal, and I would obsess and obsess about it, thinking how wonderful it would be when I finally achieved it. I would plan everything out, just the way that I would have it when I achieved my goal, or got to the point in time I was looking forward to. I remember in the 5th grade we were supposed to go on an weeklong overnight in the spring. I was so excited thinking about it I packed in the fall.

Now that I'm at a less enjoyable time in my life I've experienced less pleasant obsessions, generally about my fears. My mom would tell me, "You choose what you focus on." but I just didn't see it that way. I can't think about not thinking about something... that just means that I have to think about it! I can leave no thought unexplored. When I have anxiety and I don't want to think about something it becomes a compulsion to think about it. I worry that I am deluding myself... hiding something... that I'm missing out. I will get so involved with all the little details because I worry that if I don't get everything I'll miss something.

I NEED TO HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION I CAN!!!
