Do you consider yourself a good cook? What kinds of foods do you like to cook? What do you cook best?
I consider myself a good cook, I'm an incredibly picky eater, so if I like my own cooking, it must be pretty good. When I'm away from home, I eat a lot of fast food, but when I'm home I want a home-cooked meal. Sometimes if I don't have time to cook, I'll eat something simple or packaged, but if I have time I want something good. A lot of times I'll cook in large enough quantities to put enough away in the freezer to last 2 - 7 meals, then I can heat it up in the oven when I don't have time to cook. The one electrical outlet in the kitchen broke over 6 months ago (the cord on the refrigerator is long enough to reach the living room without an extension cord), and I haven't used the microwave since then. I don't need it. I can make anything on the stove top and/or in the oven, and it tastes better than out of the microwave anyways.
Sometimes I use recipies, sometimes I invent my own recipies. I hardly ever follow a recipie exactly. I use them as basic guidelines, but I almost always modify them. I guess I just have to do everything my own way, but most of the time doing things my own way tastes better.
Foods I cook best:
Cronbread - with sugar, cheddar cheese, and pork cracklins
Green bean casserole - I use fresh green beans and cream of onion soup instead of cream of mushroom soup
Carrot casserole - I modified the recipie I found to make the sauce thicker and creamer
Beef recipie I invented - slow-cooked beef, celery, onions, water, cream, flour
Chicken recipie I invented - slow-cooked chicken wings with butter, a little bit of barbeque sauce, and lots of seasonings
Pulled pork - slow-cooked in the oven, tender enough to pull apart by hand
Twice-baked potatoes - potatoes with cheddar cheese, butter, sour cream, and bacon bits
Pasta - rotini noodles with monzerella cheese, garlic and onion powder and sauce (I know it's kind of cheating to use sauce out of a jar but it tastes good)
Macaroni and cheese - maybe too simple for this list, but I use real cheese, not the yucky boxed stuff
Barbequed corn - corn cooked in the husk and covered in aluminum foil with water in it
Biscuits - with cheddar cheese and garlic
Punpkin pie - made from scratch, except for the crust
Pie I invented - kind of a cross between blueberry pie and cheesecake
Sugar cookies - made from scratch
